Below are three complete press releases written for Indian businesses — a funding round, a store opening and a certification — with rupee figures, Indian cities and the details our editors actually look for. All companies and numbers are fictional; copy the structure, not the wording.
1. Funding announcement
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Saral Kirana Raises Rs 8 Crore to Expand Into Tier-2 Cities
PUNE, India — 18 March 2026 — Saral Kirana, a supply platform for
neighbourhood grocery stores, has raised Rs 8 crore in pre-Series A funding
led by Deccan Capital. The company will use the investment to enter 40 tier-2
cities across Maharashtra and Gujarat by March 2027.
Saral Kirana currently serves 2,300 kirana stores across Pune, Nashik and
Aurangabad, and reported Rs 34 crore in gross merchandise value for FY 2025-26,
up 61% year on year. The round also included participation from existing
angel investors. Deccan Capital partner Rohit Deshmukh joins the board.
“Our delivery cost per store falls sharply once we cross about 300 stores
in a city, and we were sitting below that line in every new market,” said
Anjali Kulkarni, co-founder of Saral Kirana. “This funding lets us cross
it in 40 cities instead of four.”
About Saral Kirana
Saral Kirana is a B2B supply platform serving neighbourhood grocery stores in
western India. Founded in 2021 and headquartered in Pune, the company works
with 2,300 retailers and employs 87 people.

Why it works: the amount, the lead investor and the use of funds are all in the first paragraph. The quote explains a unit-economics constraint rather than expressing excitement, which makes it quotable. GMV and growth rate are stated with the financial year, so the number is checkable.
2. Store or branch opening
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tanvi Textiles Opens First Bengaluru Showroom
The 4,200 sq ft store is the company’s first outside Tamil Nadu
BENGALURU, India — 6 May 2026 — Tanvi Textiles opened its first
Bengaluru showroom in Indiranagar today, marking the handloom retailer’s
first location outside Tamil Nadu. The 4,200 square foot store employs 19
staff and stocks weaves from 340 partner artisans.
The company has operated six stores in Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai since
2016 and says roughly 18% of its online orders in the last financial year
came from Karnataka. The Bengaluru store will also serve as a collection
point for online orders.
“We were shipping to Bengaluru every day and handling returns badly
because customers could not see the weave before buying,” said Meera
Raghunathan, Managing Director at Tanvi Textiles. “A physical store
fixes a problem we created by growing online first.”
About Tanvi Textiles
Tanvi Textiles is a handloom retailer working directly with weaver
cooperatives across south India. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in
Chennai, the company operates seven stores and employs 140 people.

Why it works: it gives the commercial reason for the location rather than framing expansion as success for its own sake. Square footage, staff count, artisan count and an online order percentage give four checkable facts in a short release.
3. Certification or approval
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aarav Pharma Receives WHO-GMP Certification for Its Ahmedabad Facility
AHMEDABAD, India — 22 January 2026 — Aarav Pharma has received
WHO-GMP certification for its Ahmedabad manufacturing facility, allowing the
company to supply into regulated export markets in Southeast Asia and Africa.
The certification followed an 11-month upgrade programme covering water
treatment, air handling and documentation systems, at a cost of Rs 6.4 crore.
The facility manufactures oral solid dosage formulations and has an annual
capacity of 1.2 billion tablets. Aarav Pharma expects export orders to account
for roughly a quarter of revenue by FY 2027-28, against 4% today.
“The documentation rebuild took longer than the plant work and we had
underestimated it completely,” said Dr Sameer Bhatt, Quality Head at
Aarav Pharma. “Anyone planning this should budget twice the time for
paperwork.”
About Aarav Pharma
Aarav Pharma manufactures generic oral solid dosage formulations for domestic
and export markets. Established in 2009 and based in Ahmedabad, the company
operates two facilities and employs 410 people.

Why it works: certifications are objectively verifiable, which is why they carry weight. The release explains what the certification enables commercially rather than just stating it was received, and the quote admits a mistake — the most quotable thing an executive can do.
What all three have in common
- The news is in the headline and first paragraph. Nothing held back.
- Numbers everywhere — crore figures, square footage, staff, capacity, percentages, dates.
- Quotes that admit something. A constraint, a mistake, a trade-off. None of them say “delighted” or “thrilled”.
- No superlatives. Not one release calls the company leading, pioneering or world-class.
- 250 to 350 words. Short enough for an editor to read fully.
Details specific to Indian releases
- Use one number format consistently. Crore and lakh, or millions — not both in the same release. If you are targeting international coverage, add the equivalent in brackets once.
- State the financial year explicitly. “FY 2025-26” rather than “last year”, because the Indian financial year does not match the calendar year and foreign readers will misread it.
- Include the city in the dateline, not just the state. It is what makes regional publications pick a story up.
- Spell out abbreviations once. WHO-GMP, GST, MSME — obvious to you, not to every reader.
Frequently asked questions
Can I copy these press release samples?
Use them as structural models, not as text to copy. Every company and figure above is fictional, so the sentences will not fit your situation. Copy the shape: headline, dateline, lead paragraph, detail with numbers, one quote, boilerplate, contact.
Should I write in crore and lakh or in millions?
Use whichever your readers use, and stay consistent within the release. For a domestic audience crore and lakh are clearer. If you want coverage outside India, give the equivalent in brackets the first time a figure appears rather than switching formats midway.
How long should an Indian press release be?
The same as anywhere: 300 to 600 words. The samples above are around 300, which is enough for a straightforward announcement. Length does not signal importance to an editor, and a release over 800 words usually means the news is being padded.
Do I need to mention GST or company registration details?
Not in the release itself. Registration and GST details belong on your invoice and your website, not in an announcement. The boilerplate should say what the company does, since when, where it operates and its scale — nothing more.
Can I write a press release in Hindi or a regional language?
For regional publications it can help, and the structure is identical. If you want both, write the English version first and translate it rather than writing twice, so the facts and figures cannot drift apart between the two.
