Press release distribution in India runs on a different price ladder to the US and UK market. Where American wire services start around $350 and climb past $760, Indian and India-facing services typically sit between free and Rs 15,000. This guide covers what each price band actually delivers and how to choose.
Disclosure: Concierge Press Wire is one of the services described here. Our own pricing is listed alongside the general market rather than separately.
Why the Indian market prices differently
Two things drive the gap. First, the expensive part of Western wire distribution is syndication onto the newswires that American and European newsrooms monitor. Most Indian businesses do not need that, and services aimed at them do not pay for it.
Second, the buyer is different. A US enterprise wire exists partly to satisfy disclosure obligations for listed companies. An Indian SME publishing a funding announcement or a new branch opening is buying visibility and a credible record, not regulatory compliance. Those are different products at different prices.
The price bands
Free
Publication on the provider’s own site, usually with a nofollow link, one image, a review queue of 24 to 48 hours and a limited lifespan. Useful for testing a service or recording a routine announcement. Not useful if you need the link to count or the timing to be controlled.
Rs 500 to Rs 2,000
The working band for most Indian small businesses and startups. At this level you should get instant or same-day publishing, a dofollow backlink, several images and a permanent URL. This is the right tier for product launches, partnerships, appointments and award announcements.
Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000
Adds prominence rather than reach: homepage placement, more backlinks, logo placement, newsletter inclusion, and in some cases Google News submission. Worth it when the announcement is one you want visible for months rather than days, such as a funding round or a market entry.
Rs 10,000 and above
Usually a bundle rather than a single release. Agencies and companies running a sustained campaign buy a block of releases with an account manager, writing assistance and reporting. The per-release cost drops; the commitment goes up.
What to check before paying
Price per release is the wrong first question. Get these answers in writing:
- Is the URL permanent, or does the release expire?
- Is the backlink followed? Ask explicitly. Some services describe nofollow links as backlinks without qualifying it.
- Is there a word limit, and what does exceeding it cost?
- Is there editorial review, and are you refunded if rejected?
- What is the turnaround from submission to live?
- How do you pay, and is GST included in the quoted price?

What distribution will not do
Worth saying plainly, because it is oversold in this market. Distribution puts an announcement in front of an audience and creates a permanent, indexed record. It does not make a weak announcement newsworthy, it does not guarantee journalist pickup, and it is not a substitute for marketing.
If a provider promises guaranteed coverage in named national publications for a few thousand rupees, that is either paid placement being described as editorial coverage, or it is not going to happen.
Frequently asked questions
How much does press release distribution cost in India?
Most Indian small businesses pay between Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 per release for instant publishing with a dofollow backlink and a permanent URL. Free tiers exist for routine announcements, and bundled agency packages run from around Rs 10,000 upwards.
Is Indian press release distribution cheaper than US services?
Considerably, because it is a different product. US enterprise wires charge for syndication to newsrooms and for regulatory-grade disclosure. Services aimed at Indian businesses provide publication, indexing and backlinks without that syndication layer, which is what most of their customers actually need.
Will an Indian press release service get me into national media?
Not by itself. Distribution creates a published, indexed record and can be picked up, but coverage in national publications comes from journalists deciding your story is worth covering. If a specific publication is the target, direct outreach to the journalist covering your sector works better than any wire.
How many press releases should an Indian startup publish?
Only as many as there are genuine announcements, which for most early-stage companies is two to four a year: funding, a named partnership, a senior hire, a licence or certification. Publishing on a schedule regardless of whether anything happened produces releases nobody reads.
Do I need GST registration to buy press release distribution?
No, you can buy as an individual or an unregistered business. If you are GST registered and want to claim input credit, provide your GSTIN at the time of purchase so it appears on the invoice, because adding it afterwards is usually not possible.
